What does prefix and suffix leave mean?
- If your company has a leave sandwich policy applicable, then prefix and suffix leave days might be automatically added to your leave application, either at the time of submission of your application or at the time of approval of your leave application
- For example, assume you have Sunday as a weekly off with Saturday and Monday as working days. Your company follows a sandwich policy wherein if you take leave on Monday and Saturday, the Sunday (which is sandwiched between the 2 leave applications) will get counted as a leave day as well
- Say you have an approved existing leave on Saturday and you submit a new application for Monday. Upon submission of the new leave request for Monday, the Sunday will automatically get considered as “Prefix” leave and will get deducted from your leave balance accordingly
- Now, say you have an approved existing leave on Monday and you submit a new application for Saturday. Upon submission of the new leave request for Saturday, the Sunday will automatically get considered as “Suffix” leave and will get deducted from your leave balance accordingly
